Match and Training Suspension

It is with regret that we have decided to suspend all football activity (training and matches) has been suspended.

We will, of course, keep the situation under review and issue our own updates as developments permit. In the interim, we ask that you continue with payments through March, April and May - as it will make reconciliation and potential refunds much easier to administer in due course.

The Trustees will continue to meet (virtually if necessary) to help monitor the situation. We are committed to keeping the Club going once this situation is behind us and appreciate your support and understanding.

Finally, if anyone is unwell, isolated or unable to care for themselves or their loved ones during these uncertain times, please let us know. We have volunteers in the Club who would be happy to provide assistance if this is needed.

Join Taunton Youth

Match squad selections have been made for the 2019/ 20 season, however if your son or daughter is still interested in joining us then we are happy to welcome them to training at a reduced rate. Training squad places are always available and reviews are undertaken on a regular basis  and we aim to reward dedication and hard work during training with a Match Squad place where we can.

TYFC Community Trust

The programme was granted Charitable Status in January 2019.. We are therefore now known as Taunton Youth FC Community Trust. The charity number is 1181212.

For administrative matters Neil White (youth@tauntontown.com or 07977 915965) and the age group coaches (along with Paul West) will be your principal points of contact.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Neil via email or text and he will reply.

Taunton Youth Programme

Match squad notifications will be sent out by Friday 7th June. If you have not received an email, please check your junk folder, otherwise drop an email to youth@tauntontown.com with the age group and the player name.

For the 2019 / 20 season fees will be £450 for match squad players and £200 for the training group.

The cost is split over 10 monthly payments, payable on the first day of each month commencing in August. This means the last payment will be made 1 May 2020.

When setting up your payment please use the following ref:  Age group, Initial, Surname, e.g. U15JSmith.

Important note: we have a new bank account for the 2019-20 season.

Account name: Taunton Youth FC Community Trust
    Account number: 15146685
    Sort code: 60-05-06

It is important here to remind everyone that the trust is a not for profit organisation.  We will keep revenue under constant review, and if at any point in the future we build a surplus this will be reinvested in the programme or used to lower the fees again.  As a charity, our annual accounts have to be published meaning that there will always be transparency.

For new joiners we do offer a cooling off period so that players have the opportunity to work with the coaches. If a player decides they want to leave, as long as notice is given prior to the 30th September, there is no penalty. However, once you have committed to the programme and you or your child decides to leave after the 30th September, then two months advance notice is required. This means, for example, if your son/daughter wishes to finish at the end of March, you will need to give us notice in writing or email by the end of January. You will then be required to pay all fees due up to the end of March.

Player Injury

If a player has a long term injury, then monthly payments are still due, however an assessment will be made at the end of the season and dispensation given if a large amount of play / training has been missed. ie. Player breaks a leg and is off for eight weeks, April's and May's payment will not be required.

CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young)

In the Summer, players from the Taunton Town Community Trust  were amongst almost 100 young people who attended a free health check session in Taunton in memory of Taunton man Gary Edwards who died suddenly, aged just 28 in 2015 and only weeks before he was due to get married. Gary tragically died from a previously undiagnosed heart condition.

Across the UK, more than 12 young people a week die of heart conditions and of these, around 80% are previously undiagnosed. This screening of young people can save lives and Gary’s parents are aiming to raise £5000 every year so that at least 100 young people can be screened locally.

Of the 95 people, aged 14 to 35, who took part in the tests for heart defects last weekend, 91 were given the all-clear, with four being referred for further investigation and any necessary treatment.

Gary's dad Terry has a long association with the Taunton Town Football Club, having played in excess of 500 games in the 1st team and reserves.

The check-ups by Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), were paid for from a memorial fund set up in Gary's memory, by his mum Hilary Edwards. Her aim is to raise awareness and funds so that other young people can be screened to help prevent young sudden cardiac deaths.
