The 2019 - 20 Season

Tue 11th Jun 2019

Preparations are now actively underway for the Club and its players to have a successful 2019-20 season.

If you haven't already seen it, the welcome pack has been updated for 2019/2020 and can be found here.  You should already have heard whether your son/daughter will start the season in the training group or the match squad for their age group, but please let us know if this isn't the case.

We hope you will find the information in the pack useful, but if you have any questions please reply to youth@tauntontown.com and we will get an answer to you as soon as possible.

There are some notable changes in the pack, and in the information you have already received, which are highlighted below:

Payment
For the 2019/20 season fees will be £450 for match squad players and £200 for the training group.  Fees are split over 10 monthly payments, payable on the first day of each month commencing in August. This means the last payment will be made on 1 May 2020.

Also, we have a new bank account for next season. This means you need to stop/cancel any current standing order to the Club and set up a new one.  Previous arrangements will not be automatically transferred so please do not just amend the monthly price you are paying.  The new details are:

Account name: Taunton Youth FC Community Trust
    Account number: 15146685
    Sort code: 60-05-06

When setting up your payment, please use the following ref:  Age group, Initial, Player's Surname, e.g. U15JSmith. This will help us to confirm payment for your son/daughter.

Discounts
We've had a few families ask us in recent months if we provide sibling or family discount and the answer is: we do not provide any discounts at present.  However, the Club Trustees discussed this at a recent meeting and have agreed to the principle of introducing discounts once the Club is on a firmer financial footing.  Separately, discounts are expected to be offered to players from low income families.

Details of how these new policies will work still need to be developed.  For now, everyone needs to pay the annual fees stated.  If these new policies are introduced part way through the 2019-20 season, more information will be provided and appropriate adjustments will be made to the remaining payment schedule.

Purchase of training kit
All of the training kit is supplied by Tony Pryce Sports in Taunton and comes with printed initials to avoid losses when items are temporarily discarded.  If your son/daughter is an existing player, there is no need to replace the kit.  Please keep using it until it is too small or it wears out.  If new kit is needed, please visit the shop as soon as possible to make sure it is ready for the first training sessions in August.

Training nights and venues
Pre-season training commences in August and days / times will be notified via Teamer. The Winter programme training days and times will be provided in due course, but we will start on the grass at Heron Drive and move to the artificial surfaces when the light starts to fade.

New parent reps
We can now share the names of the parent reps who have volunteered to assist with fundraising and communication within the teams next season.

U11s: tbc (please get in touch if you are interested)
U12s: Samantha Kirkham
U13s: Matt Willis
U14s: Lee Koppa
U15s: Melanie Bewes (Clarets) and Claire Grant (Blues)
U16s: Louise Hacker

If they approach you for help or for your points of view, please do work with them to help us make this Club the best it can be.

Sponsors
We are delighted that a number of local firms have agreed to sponsor the programme in different ways.  Some of these are new connections and some have agreed to continue their association after linking up with us at the start, two seasons ago.  The website has a banner on the front page with a link to the various sponsors' own websites.  Please support them if the opportunity arises and make sure that they know you are one of our members.

One of our newest connections is with The Soccer Store, who have donated a set of Mitre Footballs as part of their give back to the community scheme for the upcoming season. The Mitre Footballs will be used in training sessions by our older training squads.

Jack Hart from The Soccer Store stated "We are always looking to build new relationships with clubs across the country especially with those who place such an emphasis on youth football.  We feel it is important to give younger players the best opportunity to succeed in football and it is clear to see that you agree with these principles.  We have chosen Taunton Youth FC to receive this donation of Mitre Footballs as part of our give back to the community scheme".

The Soccer Store have been supplying clubs from Grass Roots level all the way up to the Premier League for the past 15 years. Their emphasis is on sourcing high quality football equipment at the keenest prices with the back-up of their unsurpassed knowledge and excellent customer service. They have gained the respect of the footballing community with a following of repeat customers who put their trust in The Soccer Store.

Their products include Training and Match Day Equipment, Football Goals and the full range of Mitre Footballs which includes the Mitre Delta Max ball used in the EFL and FA Cup and of course the Mitre Footballs balls supplied to Taunton Youth FC.

Annual General Meeting
As a registered charity, we are required to hold an Annual General Meeting once a year.  There are some formal bits of business we have to do (such as publish our accounts, elect Trustees) but we also want to use this as an opportunity for a social evening to have some fun together.  More details will be shared in September, but for now please make a note of the date: Friday 11 October 2019 at the Wyvern Club.  We encourage parents and players to come together so do hope you can join us.

For now all that remains is to wish you a very enjoyable summer break.
Please look out on Teamer for news of pre-season training dates which will start in the first week of August.
