January Update

Wed 22nd Jan 2020

Welcome to 2020! I hope this is a good year for you all. Now that we are through the holiday season we have a few items to share and update you on:

Pop-up wind/rain shelter

As you know, at every Taunton Town home match we have the opportunity to raise funds for the Club through a half time raffle prize draw. Thanks to these additional funds the Trustees have decided to purchase a pop-up shelter for use by players to keep themselves and their kit dry during home matches at Heron Drive.  This will be used initially by the U12 age group and, if it works out well, we will purchase one for each team to retain and use as they see fit.

Once we have it delivered an in use, do pop over, take a look and share your views with your parent rep.

Complaints

It would seem that some parents are funnelling ‘expressions of dissatisfaction’ via their age group parent representative.  Also, some of the coaches are using the parent representative to pass on information concerning training/match cancellations.  This is not the role of the parent reps whose primary function is to assist the Trustees with organising fundraising and social activities.  This is a polite reminder to all that if you wish to log a complaint this should be done in accordance with our Complaints Policy, a copy of which can be found on the website.  The coaches will be reminded to use existing communication channels (in particular Teamer) for team news.

Parent Representatives

Our parent reps do a super job of helping us to stay connected as a Club. We currently have a vacancy for the U13 group following Matt Willis’ resignation.  We’d like to place on record our thanks to Matt and invite another parent from that age group to please come forward if you are interested in helping out. It’s not a big time commitment but it makes a big difference to the experience we are able to offer our players.

PR and Marketing

We’re still on the look out for someone to help us with marketing activities. This doesn’t need to be a parent, so please have a think if you know of someone who may be willing to spend a few hours each month with us.

Here’s a reminder of the ask:

As we continue the development of our club the Trustees are keen for us to improve the way we publicise our services. Our goal is to help young people in the Taunton area engage with football and yet we are not widely known. Many people do not know, for example, that their children can continue to play grass roots football and also come to us for additional training, development and the chance to play in the match squads.

We think we do a reasonable job of communicating internally so this is about how we raise our profile and encourage more young players to come and give us a go. We are therefore looking for someone to help us with a public relations campaign.

This is a volunteer role and will not be paid. Whoever comes forward can choose to do so on a one-off basis although we’d love for them to be part of our management committee and contribute to our longer term success. Professional qualifications are not required but someone who is happy to put forward ideas and is willing to help would be very much welcome.

We must stress this is not a role that will help us to secure sponsorship or income. We have sponsors for this season and more are already lined up for next year. What we seek is someone to help us with tasks such as:

If you have, or know anyone who has these skills and is keen to help us please send an email to our Chairperson, Steve Willis via beamswillis@btinternet.com - or call him via 07912 054091.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to give back to their local community and make a positive difference to the lives of young people. Please do step forward if you have the skills and time to assist us.

Taunton Town Legends v Premier League Legends – 19 April 2020

You may have seen the above event has been advertised by the main club.  We have again been offered a preferential ticket purchasing arrangement with tickets priced as follows:

Adults £15
Concessions £10
Under 18s £5

TTFC are very keen for all of our players and parents to have access to tickets for this match.  It is expected to be a sell-out event so we need to move very quickly on requesting and securing tickets.

If you would like to request tickets send email to TTFCvMU@hotmail.com by 29 February with the following information:

As soon as we know how many tickets we require we will liaise with TTFC.  We will then email you with details of payment/collection of tickets.  Payment can be made by cash or cheque (payable to Taunton Town Football Club).  Tickets can only be released when full payment has been received and tickets not paid for by the requested deadline (date to be confirmed) will be returned to the club.

Please note, the 29 Feb deadline to request tickets cannot be extended. If you have not requested tickets by this date and you later decide you want some, you will need to attend a future first team match and purchase them at full cost whilst at the stadium.

We hope many of you will take up this opportunity to celebrate local football and look forward to seeing you there.
